Severn Teakle Wallis was one of the Maryland State legislators locked up in 1861 to prevent secession and taken to Fort McHenry and Fort Warren with several Howards and with Robert Hull, husband of Susan Thompson Hull. After the war, his politics must have changed. It was this family that produced Wallis Simpson, the woman who brought down the throne of England.
